Stove King rules

Danielson CT – Education is always the best way to purchase a major appliance and, if you need assurances that you’re buying the right type of heating and/or aesthetically-pleasing stove appliance, you can take a short trip to Danielson, Connecticut, and meet with Matt Brazeau, owner of Stove King.

Matt and his wife, Ashlee, have been in the heating appliance business since 1906 – no, wait a minute, that’s the age of one of the antique wood-burning stoves they have on display which Matt is very proud to show you. The couple have been in business since 2008, and they’ve pretty much become the aces of expertise in their business area which ranges from Danielson to Boston—and the surrounding areas including Worcester County. Very approachable and friendly,  Matt enjoys his customers and is very open to educating consumers on all aspects of pellet, wood, gas-fired, and electric stoves and fireplaces. And, by the way, if you’re looking for the state-of-the-art linear fire experience with the colored crushed glass that is featured on many home improvement shows?  Matt’s your man.  The company has installed many of these fire displays for Boston customers. Absolutely stunning (and mesmerizing) in their beauty and artful appearance,  there is a possibility of seeing one of these works of art in a new restaurant that will be opening in Putnam soon;  be on the lookout.

Stove King has three divisions: the retail stores in Danielson, Connecticut, and Medford, Massachusetts, as well as an internet supply store that offers hundreds of parts for just about any type of heating appliance you might own. Stove King also offers accessories like hearth stones, vent pipes, glass doors, and gas log sets. Additionally they are an authorized SunSetter Awning dealer and can provide manual or electric-powered shade products for your outdoor use. “We also sell virtually indestructible grill products,” said Matt, “these outdoor cooking grills are high-quality stainless steel with many features not found on other grills.” This product line consists of Twin Eagles, Fire Magic, and Broilmaster. If you’re in the market for smokers and outdoor fireplaces, Stove King can help in these areas too.

“Pellet stoves are not created equal,” explained Matt, “we learned this the hard way when we first began our business with a line of pellet stoves that did not stand up to long-term use. Service calls increased,  and that’s when we educated ourselves about the most reliable and sturdy products out there. We do have an excellent service staff and now, most of our service calls are for installations and minor adjustments.” The major brands offered by Stove King include Lopi, Vermont Castings, Regency, and Napoleon. Their internet store sells fans, motors, exhaust channels, chimney systems, ignitors, glass, sensors, probes, and thermocouples as well as many other parts and accessories.

“These units are not coffeemakers,” said Matt, “it’s not something you buy on the internet and when it breaks you throw it out. If you want to educate yourself and then learn about our recommendations, that’s why we’re here. We enjoy person-to-person contact. We’re not a faceless company that you’ll never get a handshake from. We’re here for you, the customer. The products we carry have evolved environmentally. Back in the 1970s, these types of stoves were not eco-friendly. Just think of cars from years ago versus what we have today. Now, even wood-burning stoves have three combustion areas and much less air pollution. These new stoves actually re-burn the flue gases. We offer a Cape Cod heating unit that is the cleanest wood-burning stove out there with a 0.5 gram emissions rating. This unit came about as the result of a college build-off contest, and it’s the only unit that went straight into production.”

From a degree in information technology to a career in banking to the heating appliance industry is quite a leap,  but that’s what Matt and Ashlee did—and they truly have not looked back. “I felt that pellet stoves were the wave of the future in the early 2000s,” Matt said, “and here we are today with a great product line, two wonderful stores and office staffs, and an internet business that is doing very well. We even offer our customers the convenience of building their own heating appliances on our website which includes uploading a photo of your existing fireplace or insert and then using our design spots for modifications. I enjoy our customers and the education process tremendously. We’ve done a lot of interesting installations which includes a very large gas fireplace installation for Cabela’s (an outdoor fishing, camping, hunting store).”
